I graduated as a doctor from Edinburgh University Medical School in Scotland in 1985 and I've enjoyed a wide ranging and varied career since then.
I am a fully qualified family doctor (what would be called a board certified family physician in the United States) and a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners in the UK. I specialise in the treatment of joint and muscle pains - shoulder pain particularly.
I'm also a trained specialist in Sports Medicine and in Orthopedic Medicine and I regularly treat high level athletes and others with joint pain, back pain or sporting injury.
I'm the club doctor for a professional football club in Scotland (Falkirk FC for those interested in that kind of thing) and I still do a great deal of teaching and writing on topics related to joint and muscle pain.
I also specialise in the treatment of blood pressure - having suffered from it myself for a number of years I truly understand this complex condition from both the doctors and the patients side of the coin. Here's the link to my blood pressure website if you're interested in it.
